Ana Paulina Arenas has experience advising financial institutions, investment funds and developers in the design of strategies and negotiation of contracts, as well as in regulatory and environmental compliance of infrastructure projects, Her expertise includes applications with federal, state, and municipal authorities, environmental impact assessments (EIA), due diligence, social impact assessments (SIA), human rights impact assessments (HRIA), free, prior, and informed consent (FPIC), Equator Principles, IFC Standards, ESG, biodiversity, pollution, remediation and circular economies.
In the social impact area, Paulina has experience providing advice in the development of energy projects. She has also collaborated with government authorities in the drafting of environmental laws.
Represented Blackrock in social impact matters, specifically in execution of the indigenous consultation with the indigenous community Wixárika for the eolic project “La Bufa”.
Represented Ciclo Combinado Tierra Mojada and its affiliates, in environmental, regulatory and social impact matters, in connection with the refinancing of its debt, which included an issuance by FEL Energy VI of USD$953 million of its 5.750% Senior Secured Notes due in 2040.
Represented FINSA and its partner Walton Street Capital, in environmental and regulatory matters, in connection with the sale to Fibra Uno, an industrial portfolio (Titan Portfolio) comprised by 74 industrial properties distributed in 10 cities and 9 states, representing the largest industrial real estate transaction in Latin America in 2019.
Represented ENGIE and its affiliates, in environmental, regulatory and social impact matters, in connection with a limited recourse project financing in respect of four solar parks and two wind farms in Mexico with a combined generation capacity of 721 MW.
Represented BBVA as lender in the refinancing of the construction loans made to Estación de Compresión Soto la Marina, a special purpose company owned by Enagas and Fermaca in environmental, regulatory and social impact matters.
Participated in the environmental due diligence process and negotiations to finance a portfolio of electricity generation plants throughout Mexico.
