Alejandro Mosqueda has 6 years of experience advising the majority of international banks, industry associations such as the Mexican Banks Association and the Broker Dealers Association, as well as international organizations like ISDA, on regulatory analysis, negotiation, and implementation of derivatives, securities lending, and repo transactions in Mexico. He also provides ongoing advisory on financial regulation in the country.
Alejandro advises both foreign and local financial entities on the establishment, merger, and restructuring of banks, broker dealers, and Fintechs, as well as obtaining licenses and authorizations from regulators such as the National Banking and Securities Commission and the Central Bank of Mexico.
In the Fintech sector, Alejandro consistently advises national and international entities on navigating regulations, obtaining licenses, and implementing new schemes and products in Mexico.
Before joining the firm, Alejandro collaborated with the Central Bank, where he was involved in drafting and implementing financial regulations related to derivatives, central bank transactions, payment systems, and financial market infrastructure. He also worked on the management of international reserve investments and participated in the negotiation of financial services provisions in free trade agreements.
Has provided annual ISDA netting, collateral, and clearing opinions for Mexico, as well as legal opinions for industry organizations such as FIA, and the banking and broker dealers associations in Mexico and other countries.
Has represented various fintech companies, including Nubank, Revolut, Openbank, Albo, and Bankaool, in obtaining licenses, developing new products, and navigating Mexican regulations.
Has represented the vast majority of the banks and broker dealers in Mexico, as well as ABM, AMIB and ISDA to implement Mexican Margin Rules, and interest rate transition particularly regarding “TIIE de Fondeo” rate.
Represented the biggest custodians in the world, such as Bank of New York, Caceis, JPM, among others, and collaborated in setting up the tri-party custody industry in Mexico.
Has assisted several major international banks in structuring and executing derivatives, repo and complex structured finance transactions in Mexico, including multi-billion swaps and repos transactions, as well as the hedging agreements for some of the most important infrastructure projects in Mexico.
Has assisted Mexican and international banks in consultations regarding local and international financial regulation, investment limits, capital requirements, use of digital assets, as well as obtaining regulatory approvals before the CNBV and the Central Bank.
