Centro Competencia published on its newsletter an article co-authored by our associates Marta Loubet, Montserrat Quintana, and Julia Fuentes, in which they analize COFECE's “Green Competition Strategy”. This document examines the intersection between sustainability and competition policy in Mexico, aligning with a global trend where competition authorities aim to integrate climate and social objectives into their regulatory frameworks.
While the strategy represents a significant step forward in the Mexican context, our experts highlight that, unlike other jurisdictions, it has yet to include concrete measures or regulatory actions to address current challenges and fully leverage the opportunities presented by this new approach.
"The 'Green Competition Strategy' marks a significant milestone for Mexican competition policy; however, as of now, we understand it remains focused on promotional activities and studies without necessarily translating into the issuance of specific regulations."
