Octavio Olivo joined the firm in 1992 and has been a partner since 1998.

Octavio Olivo has more than 30 years of experience representing Mexican airlines and other providers of air transportation services, in virtually all aspects of aviation finance including restructurings, insolvency and default situations. He has represented manufacturers, financiers and lessors in connection with the sale, financing and leasing of commercial and corporate aircraft and helicopters.

Octavio also has vast experience in energy projects representing clients in connection with the financing of power plants, pipelines, oil rigs, offshore support vessels and other items of equipment.

Octavio’s competition and antitrust practice specializes on merger control and competition law enforcement. He advises clients on the full spectrum of antitrust issues in Mexico, providing guidance across various industries and achieving a strong record of success in merger reviews.

Octavio gained international experience as a foreign associate at Clearly Gottlieb in New York.

Relevant Experience

  • Represented Banco Ve por Más in connection with a loan granted in favor of Bosnor for an amount of USD$8 million and (ii) the creation of a Mexican-law governed Management and Payment Source Trust.
  • Represented a natural person in connection with antitrust investigations carried out by the Mexican Competition Authority in the market for Mexican government bonds.
  • Represented a bank in obtaining clearance from COFECE to acquire a significant ownership stake in an asset management business.
  • Represented Export Development Canada in connection with the negotiation, drafting and implementation of the necessary agreements and additional documentation for the financing of three ATR72-600 aircraft on lease with Transportes Aeromar.
  • Represented AerCap in connection with the negotiation, drafting and execution of the lease and other documentation in respect of four Airbus A320 to Interjet.
  • Represented Aircastle in connection with the negotiation, drafting and execution of a sale and lease back transaction in respect of four Airbus A320 with Interjet.
  • Represented Airbus in connection with the negotiation, drafting and execution of pre delivery payment financing in respect of eight Airbus A320 with VivaAerobus and four Airbus A320 with Volaris.
  • Represented Avolon in connection with the negotiation, drafting and execution of the lease and other documentation in respect of two Airbus A320 to VivaAerobus.
  • Represented Bank of Communications Financial Leasing in connection with the negotiation, drafting and execution of the lease and other documentation in respect of four Airbus A320 to Volaris.
  • Represented Aviator Capital and related entities, in connection with the financing of three Embraer ERJ 190-100 currently leased to Aeroméxico Connect.
