Jean Paul Farah joined the firm in 1994 and has been a partner since 2003.

He has recognized experience representing leading domestic and international banks and export credit agencies in various financings and securities offerings for both public and private entities, primarily in the energy, infrastructure, telecommunications, consumer, and real estate sectors. His mergers and acquisitions practice involves advising strategic investors and private equity firms in their equity and mezzanine investments in Mexico.

He has participated in a broad range of sustainability-linked financings for companies such as Bimbo, América Móvil, Fibra Uno, and Fibra Macquarie, as well as in significant mergers and acquisitions, representing Thor Urbana, ENFOCA, Grupo Salud Auna, CGI Manufacture Holdings, Preficient, and Chart Industries, among others. He has also been involved in notable bond offerings for Kio Networks, Casa Cuervo, América Móvil, and Bimbo.

Jean Paul gained international experience as foreign associate at Uría Menéndez in Madrid and at Shearman & Sterling in New York.

Relevant Experience

  • Represented The Bank of Nova Scotia in the negotiation and execution of a USD$2,300 million credit agreement to TC Energy.
  • Represented Grupo Salud Auna México in the negotiation and execution of a credit and guaranty agreement of USD$350 million, to finance the acquisition of Hospitales OCA.
  • Represented the banks as underwriters in the issuance by América Móvil of MXN$17,000 million of its Senior Notes due 2031.
  • Represented BBVA in the refinancing of Grupo Bimbo's USD$1,935 million revolving loan.
  • Represented the Banks, in the term and revolving financings granted to Petróleos Mexicanos.
  • Represented Santander and the lenders, in the financing of the the Natural Gas Transportation Projects of “Los Ramones Sur” and “Los Ramones Norte”.
  • Represented BBVA Bancomer, in a simple syndicated loan agreement granted to the Comisión Federal de Electricidad, for the refinancing of financed public works (obra pública financiada, OPF), under Pidiregas.
  • Represented Gasoductos de Chihuahua (a joint venture between El Paso Energy and Pemex), in the development, operation and financing of the following projects: (i) San Fernando Natural Gas Pipeline for the Transportation of Natural Gas and (ii) TDN for the Transportation and Storage of LP Gas.
  • Represented the Banks, in the Natural Gas Storage and Transportation Project headed by Grupo Nieto, for the Tuxpan-Atotonilco Gas Pipeline.
  • Participated in the restructuring of Grupo Desc, Grupo Savia, Grupo Mexico, Gruma, and Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua.
  • Represented Citibank and HSBC, in the creation of structured finance products for housing developers.
  • Represented Citigroup, in the creation of its Latin American private equity fund.
